Vol. I, No. I, August 2001
This is Me!!! Claudia E. Plett, in person, now appearing in Cyberspace. I hope to get to know you and for you to get to know me and my passion for quilting and all things "quilts". Look quick, 'cause I'm kinda shy, and don't intend to include my picture again, unless I'm forced to.
We intend to provide USEFUL quilting info on our site. Not just "fluff". There will be NO FABRIC FOR SALE on this site. We are a "down-to-earth" kind of site with no frills. We try to avoid any trips to the local supermart for special tools or gizmos. And we want to provide "user friendly" patterns and designs for you. And with as much FREE STUFF as possible.
In this introductory letter, I'll try to give a brief description of what you will find in each category listed on the left buttons. First, I've included a gallery of a few of my own quilts just to let you know and prove to you that maybe I know what I'm doing. But you know, NOBODY KNOWS EVERYTHING! Especially when it comes to designing patterns, so feel free to point out my mistakes. It won't hurt my feelings, and might help someone else avoid trouble. I have been quilting for at least 20 years or so, but who counts really. I have had some experience in running a storefront business selling quilts here locally, have judged a few quilt shows, stopped counting the number of quilts I've made a long time ago around 2 or 300, co-owned a quilt shop and machine quilting business, and on and on. But I wanted to keep this brief. Now quickly......
The Free Block of the Month Projects will be a new approach and I hope everyone will enjoy them. We will have a new project every month. So you don't have to wait a whole year for one quilt project. By the end of a year, you could possibly have l2 quilts instead of one. And if you can't wait that long to finish one, you can order the pattern for the project all at once for a small fee! I'm excited about this endeavor, and ready to get to work for you. And again, we are not selling the fabric to make these quilts, just the pattern. You go get your own fabric, ok?
The Patterns category is where you order your patterns, ok? How brief is that?
The Miscellaneous 4 Sale category will include pieced tops, finished quilts, any item not tied down or walking.
The Long Arm Machine Quilting Patterns are my own design and come in sheets l8" w x 6 - 7" high. The working area from top to bottom of the pattern is about 6". The patterns are to be taped or glued to each other according to the directions included. These patterns also make good border patterns for hand quilting.
The Links page has all my favorite places to waste time on the net. Of course, it's not really a waste, but seems like minutes waste into hours or days sometimes when I go to them. Before I know it, the sun is coming up!
The Order Form----very important! Print it out first, before you browse so you can write things down you want. Right now, things will be done mail order, until we get the credit card thing in tow.
If you go nowhere else, you've GOT to click on Ask Granny. Quilters are known for their sense of humor (well, at least SOME of them), and this page is for them.
And finally, I have to tell you how wonderful my husband is. He's the smarter half that does all my website stuff. I'll think I'll keep him. If he'll let me.
Next month we'll talk about all things "quilt".
Until Then, Cya, Claudia
