Simple Scrappy Treasures
Fifth Block

The 5th block in this series is the Simple House block.  You will need to make four 12” blocks.  We made ours with light blue sky (2) and dark blue night sky (2).

Cutting Instructions:

            Light Scraps:  Cut 1 – 2 ½” Square (window)
Cut 2 – 4 ½” Squares, Mark on the Diagonal (wrong side)
                                    Cut 2 – 2 ½” x 10 ½” Rectangles
            Dark Scraps:  Cut 1 – 4 ½” x 8 ½” Rectangle (roof)
                        Cut 1 – 2 ½” x 12 ½” Rectangle (grass)
                        Cut 1 – 2 ½” x 4 ½” Rectangle (door)
                        Cut 2 – 2 ½” x 6 ½” Rectangles
                        Cut 3 – 2 ½” Squares

Assembly:
Quick-Corner Method:  Place a 4 1/2” sky square on the roof rectangle with the diagonal line you marked placed as shown.  Stitch on that line.  Cut away the excess corner 1/4” from that line as shown.  Flip square back and press.

Using the quick-corner method, make the roof section by placing 4 ½” sky squares on the roof rectangle.  See illustrations for proper placement of diagonals.  Following diagrams, sew block together as shown.  Blocks should measure 12 1/2” unfinished.
