Ok, gang, got a cup of coffee ready? Hope these JPEG's didn't take too long for you to download. I'll try to provide a picture and description of each quilt, approximate date and pertinent and "unpertinent" info with each. Also, let me remind you that all my stuff is copyrighted and I can get really cranky if I find anyone selling or misusing my designs (and so can my attorney). |

#55. Carola's Square Dance, Jan., 2005 - 42" x 34". This is a joint effort between myself and Carola Forsburg, Sweden. Carola is an artist and creates wonderful quilts, real and virtual. Her art quilt designs are exquisite. Carola designed this quilt and I put it on paper. This is the sample quilt top I put together (testing the pattern instructions). It is an extremely quick and FUN piecing adventure! The pattern is written for two sizes, twin and wall hanging.
Here's Carola's original version in solid fabrics:
#56. Dutch Blues, Feb., 2005 - 98" x 98". This is also known as "Recipe #10", from the Nine-Patch Wonders II series. It's at the quilter's to be machine quilted now. I figured 1,521 little 3" squares (2 1/2 finished). Actually that's not bad as far as number of pieces in a quilt, when you think about it. Some quilts have over 20 pieces in a block. This one is 169 9-Patch blocks. Anyway, it took a while. :-)
#57. Eden's Star Cluster, Feb., 2005 - 84" x 84". I love star quilts. This is a variation on a broken star. Same number of sections (32), but arranged in a different way. A little hand appliqué work thrown in for icing on the cake. This is the basic part of the quilt (I have since added narrow borders and a pillowtop section), did not manage to get the entire finished top photographed, but perhaps I can update it a few months from now, when the ladies at the Eden Mennonite church finish quilting on it. This is their submission to the next MCC Relief Sale, Enid, Oklahoma, next November 1. I did manage, however to get it to fit on my design wall to take a picture, but excuse the sewing room clutter included. :-)
First picture of the center section:
A close-up of the star center. Fussy cut from Jinny Beyer's "Symphony" line for RJR. That was fun! Really!
Then the outer corner sections were pieced all together and added at the same time to the center. (Kinda' like adding a donut back onto the donut hole).
#58. Baby Hearts, March, 2005 - 36" x 42". I think I started this last spring, or might have been longer than that--seems that way. I made the first quilt like this for a friend at church who was expecting her first-born. Well, that baby is in high school now. Anyway, I finished the applique work on this one last fall and put it on the frame to hand quilt. If I had applied myself, I probably could have had it finished in a week or two. In fact, you can see it on the frame in the picture above in the lower right-hand corner. It's a small quilt, just for a newborn, mostly a keepsake quilt to bring them home from the hospital.
These are just some of many, of course. We will be adding more as time goes by, so check back often. Thanks for your time!!
