Ask Granny

Well, finally got this done!  These holidays sure get in the way of my quilting time.  Just have the top done, not the quilting yet.  Plan to have it machine quilted with a "cloudy" pattern of some sort.  Or maybe since it's about birds, it should be quilted in "feather" designs!  I really like the center block.  All those itty-bitty flying geese units were fun.  That block would be good for an entire quilt--one with fussy cut centers, maybe an "I Spy" type.   Next time I'll also make the center birds bluebirds instead of redbirds, I think.  It is also starts this month as a Free Block of the Month Project!

I haven't gotten much designing done this month either.  So, I am not sure what next month's free project will be.  Perhaps a rerun!  If any of you have a certain project you liked last year and perhaps would like to see it run again, let me know, and let me know soon, ok?

What designing I have gotten done has been somewhat frustrating as I am struggling with some EQ gliches that just won't go away.  Here's an illustration I saved of one quilt that I drew out and saved the image:

Well, that quilt is gone now.  Lost into the big EQ library in the sky, I guess.  I think EQ took revenge on me for drawing that one and erased it on purpose!  It's really strange, one day it's there.....and the next day.....poof.  The initial rough drafts remain, but not the final versions.

This has happened to me on 3 quilts now.  The Bird Hunting quilt above was a survivor of the EQ disease.  Before it vanished, I managed to accomplish all the illustrations for it.  So it didn't totally die.  But, there is no EQ file backing it up now.  Just the initial layout, not the second or third layout.

I haven't tried talking to anyone at EQ, which is the common sense thing to do.  I'm not sure anyone would believe me anyway.  They would say something like...."Now, Claudia, were you drinking at the time that this happened?"  or..."Are you sure you saved it in the sketchbook?"  DUH!!

Site seeing, anyone?

Another apology here for not producing more fun sites to see this month.  Been too busy for just surfing around---but the Amish photo site will make up for it.  That one site alone is worth spending a whole day saying "Awwww"  and "Oooooo"!  I lucked upon it by noticing a jigsaw puzzle in the store, bought it, and the website address was on the back.

What's new??

Well, like I said, this month's project starting is the Bird Hunting Free Block of the Month.  All the blocks are "Bird" blocks--like Flying Geese, Darting Birds, Hovering Hawks, Duck & Ducklings, etc.  It's a FOWL Quilt! :-)

OH, YEAH----WE HAVE A GUEST GALLERY!!! YAY!!!  Be sure to check it out.  New pictures of Judy Arnold's Simple Scrappy Quilt (Very lovely!), Pat Katnik's Nite-Nite Express, Jimel Ferguson's Easy Eights

I had a dear friend stop by and give me this gift.  I just had to share it with you all.  It's made with an ordinary chicken egg, pearly seed beads (applied one at a time) and a miniature inside.  Cool, huh??

In the Works:

I'm working on some very simple and scrappy quilts.  I'm hoping to have a collection of 8 or 9 one-block quilts to use up your scraps.  I LOVE SCRAP QUILTS!  Here's a preview of 5 of them:

These will be fun to do, I'm sure.  Now if they don't vanish.........

Also hope to have that new 2nd Collection booklet out, too, very soon.  (I think I said that last month!)

May you always have a quilt in the hoop, I try to.

Cya,
