Scott & LeAnn Weaver welcome you to their new quilt store in Tulsa.  (and Mitchell, their 7-year-old; and Oscar, the Westie dog, too!)

Just Quilt It! opened its doors last week for business.  Their online ordering store will be opening soon, too. They stock lots of fabrics, books, notions, and supplies for today's quilters.  AND, they are also exclusively offering the entire line of patterns by  yours truly!  And if you stop by, you might even get to see me there.

Here's a photo of Scott and LeAnn opening day, and a recent interview with LeAnn:

Scott & LeAnn Weaver

Question:  LeAnn, tell us about your quilting background.

LeAnn:  I made my first quilting project in high school.  I have sewn since I was about 12, making clothing, home dec items, and crafts.  My grandmother always had a quilt in the frame while I was growing up in Nebraska.  I wish I would have spent more time at her side learning hand quilting.  I scaled back my projects for a few years while my son was little; but once he was in school full time, I revved up my sewing machine and went at it full speed.

Question:  What part of quilting do you enjoy the most?

LeAnn:  I enjoy the designing and piecing the most.  Many times I'll pick a gorgeous fabric first, then find a pattern to use it in!  I'm a firm believer in short cuts, so chain piecing and machine appliqué win out every time.

Question:  What lead you to the idea of opening a quilting store?

LeAnn:  My husband, Scott, and I own another business, and have wanted to open a second business for several years now.  With a strong business background and love of quilting, it seemed a perfect fit!

Question:  Where did the name "Just Quilt It" originate?

LeAnn:  I wanted a "cutesy" quilty name, and Scott, the analytical kind, wanted a more "institutional" name.  We fussed back and forth for 2 weeks.  Finally, one day he nixed another name I'd come up with, and told me his newest choice.  In frustration I told him to "just quit it!"  He said, "Yeah--Just Quilt It!"  I gave in......

Question:  What goods and services do you now offer?

LeAnn:  We offer a variety of 100% cotton fabrics, notions, patterns, books and embellishments.  We are also a drop off site for several long-arm quilters.  JQI offers classes, workshops, and demonstration days.  Starting next month, we'll have a Sunday Sampler series.

Question:  What do you hope to provide to quilters in the future?

LeAnn:  We want to provide quilters a one-stop shopping experience.  We hope to broaden our range of products.  We will soon have our website up for internet purchasing at

Question:  Thanks, LeAnn.  Where are you located, and what are your store hours?

LeAnn:  We are located in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at 8142 S. Harvard, zip code 74l37.  Our phone number is 918-477-7747.  Our store hours are:  TUES/WED/THURS 9:30 to 7:00, FRI/SAT 9:30 to 6:00, SUN 12:00 to 5:00, closed on Mondays.

Here's some more photos taken at LeAnn's store.  The blue quilt shown is Jinny Beyer's Symphony made with RJR fabrics, of course, by yours truly, using JB's soft-edge appliqué technique.

In the Works and What's New?

I'm still working on those scrap quilting patterns.  And I'm still in the testing phase.  However, the first in the series (Short 'n Scrappy) is available THIS MONTH on the Free Block of the Month page.  That quilt, called Plaid Mad is at the machine quilter's as we speak.  Working on testing the 2nd now.  If I'm lucky, I'll get around to making it this weekend.

Also in the testing phase.......peacocks.  Pieced peacocks.  Batik peacocks.  Years ago, I made a peacock quilt for the Warren family, using my own design with a clamshell-type format.  I'm still working on publishing that pattern.  But in the meantime, I'm also working on this one, I think you'll like.  Lots of those "y" seams, though.  So not for beginners, maybe very confident beginners.

I have the blocks pieced, up on a design wall, instructions written--sort of.  Just not finalized and illustrated yet.  So be looking for this one soon.

May you always have a quilt in the hoop, I try to.
