Ask Granny

This is my answer to "What do I do with all these swap blocks and orphan blocks?"  Also "Now that I have these ribbons, what do I do with them?"

Notice I left some room on the ribbons valance for future ribbons--:-)!  I'm sooo humble.

Actually, the picture doesn't do it justice...It really does look pretty good in person.  These are hanging in my sewing/workroom/studio.  It was kinda' like making two quilts at once, though.  The two panels amounted to 60" x 84" each.  And it took longer than I thought.  I used blocks from 3 swaps that I never had time to assemble into a quilt.  And I also used the signature blocks that accompany them (called "siggy squares").  So as I was making them, I was reminded of good memories of those people.  And they will be "with" me when I work now!

Calling all Cats!!

Scrappy Come Home!!This is our beloved little Scrappy.  She is a black/yellow tortoiseshell.

Has anyone seen her around?

She escaped our new home when the front door bounced open.  She's never been outside on her own--ever.

We are just heartbroken that she is gone and can't seem to find her way home.  Her brother, Frosty, is still in mourning after 3 weeks.  He has no one to play tag with now except me.  And I don't appreciate being tagged like his little sister did.

So if you're a cat and you've seen Scrappy, tell her that her mommy and daddy, and brother, miss her very much.

The "Here, Kitty, Kitty" mystery is solved this month!

I'm really busy with moving still and other things in the works coming up, so for the next couple of months, I will leave the mystery pages online and give you all time to catch up.  I will, however, be taking the mystery instructions down January 1st.  So be forewarned, and I don't want to get any emails January 2, asking for any pages you missed, ok?

You also will be getting new 9-Patch Wonders recipes each month, as usual,  to keep you busy too!

Watch for exciting news soon from Claudia's Quilt Shoppe.com!

Site-Seeing:

http://www.hutchal.clara.net/curtains/intro.htm  Curtains 101

http://www.craftgard.com/site/craftgard_index.cfm  Neat "quilty" products here.

http://www.alternative-windows.com/index.htm  Free curtain instructions!

http://photo.stamps.com/  This is so cool!  Buy your postage stamps online here, and use your own photos as the stamp!  Think of the possibilities--babies, grandkids, pets, or quilts!  You furnish any photo you wish to upload to them (no pornos, mind you), and they print the stamps on adhesive paper and send to your mailbox.  You simply select which denomination of stamp you want (on a sheet of 20) and the color of border you want.  Then checkout and pay for it (a little more, of course).  Bookmark this one!
Update 10/1:  Apparently this was a marketing experiment for the good ol' USPS, and they stopped it 9/30.  What's even more unusual, Ami Simms included this same site in her newsletter today, too!  Sorry for the inconvenience, but you can blame the government, if it makes you feel better!  (They might resume it after considerations in 90 days).

http://www.quiltindex.org/browse.php   Lots of eye candy here.  A good place to browse with your morning coffee. (Other than Claudia's Quilt Shoppe, of course!)

Tag Line of the Month:

Consciousness: that annoying time between naps.

Have a great October!

May you always have a quilt in the hoop, I try to.

Cya,
