This was fun!  My friend, Donna Titsworth (machine quilter extraordinaire!), twisted my arm and forced me to have this picture done at the local newspaper - The Inola Independent.  Donna is Tresurer of the Tulsa Green Country Quilters Guild's quilt show next weekend, Sept 9, 10, and 11th.  And to promote the show, they did a nice little article for us.  (Thanks Alma!)

If you don't have a magnifying glass, I'll tell you what it says:
"Donna Titsworth and Claudia Plett of Inola show off the quilts they will exhibit at the "Memories in Cloth" Quilt Show, September 9, 10 and 11th at the Tulsa Convention Center.  The show, sponsored by the Green Country Quilters Guild, will open 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. on the above dates.  Admission is $7.  There will be over 400 quilts exhibited, workshops, lectures and a Trunk Show during the three days."
"The Hoffman Challenge Doll exihibit will be on display, a merchant mall, a guild boutique, a quilt appraiser, Nell D. Smith, will be there appraising local quilts, and door prizes.  For more information on the Green Country Quilters Guild or the "Memories in Cloth" Show, go to www.greencountryquiltersguild.com ."
"Donna and Claudia have been quilting for several years.  Donna now does machine quilting for other people.  Claudia has her own online company (wwwclaudiasquiltshoppecom) where you can get advice, read a newsletter, get a free block-of-the-month pattern and purchase her one-of-a-kind patterns."

Also Bethany Reynolds is their guest "celebrity", doing workshops.  The Penguins Play and the Pretty-Boy Peacocks are the quilts I have entered.  And they also are having a small quilt auction.

I know I'm late again getting this newsletter posted.  But this time I have a really good excuse!  After 25 years of living in our two-story, we downsized to about 1/3 the square footage.  We've purchased our son's large mobile home that was sitting on a riverfront about 15 miles east of us.  Moved it to our In-law's property about 1 1/2 miles west of us.  Our children had all "left the nest".  And our #3 son needed more room for his family.  So we traded homes!  Simple, right?  WRONG!!!

I have been "moving" since August 1st.  Everyday, I'm still moving.  After a month of working with movers, water companies, satellite companies, electric companies, septic tank guys, plumbers, carpenters, mailmen, and phone companies.....I'm still not done!  Each day I take a load to the new house and bring a load (son's belongings) to the old house.  It's like moving two houses .....well, we are!

We made the final "big" move last weekend (the heavy stuff anyway).  My husband says this is an "adventure".  The poor guy has really had it rougher than me for sure.  To begin with, the old house developed a slab leak.  Plumber said $2800.  He said "don't think so".  He fixed it himself.  Then the next week it developed another slab leak, different spot.  He fixed that one himself.  (And he's also an electrician!  What a guy!)  Then he had the plumbing at the new house to get hooked up.  After moving in, he said he never wanted to do any plumbing ever again.  That was before he turned on the faucet in the master bath and discovered there's no cold water, just hot.  :-)

Anyway, our "adventure" now is adjusting to new surroundings--like figuring out how the shower works, where things are, how to fix pork chops without any seasonings (they're in a box somewhere!).  The cats are mad at us.  We have a new dog that was dumped on us.  We've changed from a king size bed to a queen.  We have a beautiful front porch, but no steps at the back door.  Our yard is completely torn up from digging water lines.  We don't have any driveway or sidewalks yet, so we park in the yard under the trees.  My car each morning has a "present" or two from the local birds.

Besides all this, I now have a nice computer room/office, and a good workshop (if I ever get it out of bags and boxes) to sew in.  Built myself a nice worktable from an old door, covered with batting and flannel.  Set it on top of fabric containers/drawers. Works great.  Now to get my sewing machine and tables set up and in working order again.

I guess that's enough rambling about all this mess.  Just be patient with me when it comes to new things coming out.  That'll be awhile yet.  You'll all have those 9 patch wonders to occupy you till then.  :-) And the mystery will be finishing soon!
